Our team puts an immense amount of time into writing scouting reports. Every sentence in a scouting report needs some sort of support or reasoning behind it. This means a lot of film study, sometimes as much as 250 plays worth.

Our associate director of football operations, Nathan Cooper, illustrated this in a short piece he wrote about Spencer Fano. The Utah offensive tackle is ranked No. 3 at the position among draft prospects and No. 14 overall on our Big Board.

Wrote Nathan: “When Fano is asked to pull, he shoots out of his stance and pulls with a purpose. When he pulls and kicks, he delivers a powerful blow.”

Nathan cited one play from a game against Arizona State and another from a game against BYU as to why he wrote what he wrote. He later added:

“While I feel that he has the skill set to stay at tackle and be given the chance to succeed there first, it’s definitely possible an avenue to the field for certain teams will be at guard. His ability to pull and move in space bode extremely well for that transition, if that’s one he is asked to make.”
